The agreement between Switzerland and Eurojust, the European Union's Judicial Cooperation Unit, expands international co-operation on combating serious crime. It co-ordinates investigations and prosecution procedures between member states and facilitates international legal assistance as well as the execution of extradition requests. In practice, Switzerland has been co-operating with Eurojust on a case-by-case basis for many years. This co-operation was placed on a legal basis in 2008 with the bilateral agreement.
